The Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Sydney & Affiliated Regions, with the blessing of HG Bishop Daniel of Sydney, in collaboration with the NSW Ecumenical Council, was deeply blessed to gather as one body in Christ for a Prayer Vigil for Peace, united in faith and love.
This vigil brought community and church leaders together as one body in Christ, to mourn the loss of innocent lives and to stand in prayerful solidarity with our brothers and sisters suffering in different parts of the world. Together, we lifted our hearts to God, praying for peace, healing, and hope for all nations.
We were honoured by the presence and prayers of:
- HE Metropolitan Sarabamon – Atbara, Omdurman & North Sudan
- HG Bishop Robert Rabbat – Melkite Catholic Church & President of AMEC
- HG Archbishop Amel Shamon Nona – Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of St Thomas the Apostle
- HG Archbishop Issam Darwish – Archbishop Emeritus, Melkite Greek-Catholic Eparchy
- HE Ahmed Abdel Latif – Ambassador of Sudan
- Elizabeth Stone – General Secretary, NCCA
- Rev Dr Rod Benson – General Secretary, NSW Ecumenical Council
- Fr George Banna – Melkite Catholic Church
- Church Fathers and clergy from across our communities
May God grant peace to our world and comfort to all who suffer. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”
